Our service mission is to support individual or community causes, primarily in the local area, but also supporting national and international causes as part of Lions Club International.
Examples of our beneficiaries in recent years include:
Various local individuals have also benefitted from donations to support their health issues, mobility or education needs
Taverham Lions have occasional speakers at our club meetings. In November 2025 we met 12 year-old Lucy Foyster-Edwards and her mother, Helga. Lucy’s story is remarkable. A sporty child with a love of running, she was devastated when bone cancer was diagnosed in her left femur at age 7.
Her treatment involved chemotherapy followed by limb-salvage surgery, from which she received a prosthetic with the largest predicted growth capacity the hospital had ever implanted. Throughout her journey Lucy has been supported by the Bone Cancer Research Trust (BCRT).
Lucy has discovered wheelchair tennis and rubbed shoulders with Alfie Hewitt. She is currently ranked number 9 in international rankings for her age group.
After our meeting we donated £500 to Lucy's Big Dream fund, part of BCRT fundraising.

2024-25 Lion President Sue, David, John and Janice donated £500 to Vision Norfolk

2023-24 Lion President John and Lion David are seen presenting a cheque to the Norwich YMCA.

Taverham Lions 22-23 President Paul visited the Dementia Cafe at Taverham Library and presented a cheque to Paul Taylor, Library Manager. We will be funding the running costs of the Dementia Cafe throughout 2023.
Vice President John presented a cheque for the sponsorship of Taverham Hotspurs under 8s football team. The team played in a tournament at Carrow Road, looking great in the kit.

Between 2020 and 2025, Taverham Lions supported the Taverham, Thorpe Marriott and Drayton Foodbank by collecting food donations from One Stop shops in Framingham Earl, Leopold Road and Taverham and helping with delivery of food to local residents.
Taverham Lions spent a couple of hours clearing weeds and generally tidying up the garden of a resident in our district.

Taverham Lions funded the refurbishment of a room in the oncology department at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital in November 2020. This makes a pleasant environment for nurse practitioners to speak to patients about their options for their breast cancer treatment.
